Becoming victim to our own ideas, can in turn cause us to be lost on an ever winding road of distractions. Finding ways to collect your thoughts, may assist in eliminating these issues for the better.
Your brain may be going into overload due to your lack of being organized. When initially starting on a project, ideas tend to sit in our brains as little flower bombs waiting to bloom into the nurturing stage. So many of us have natural abilities to generate great ideas, but when it comes down to placement, we are at a standstill. None of this is easy, and that reality is usually brought out through initiation. ‘Blocks’ don’t make it any better. A steady flow of ideas is great, but converting and placing them is where the challenges really begin. I myself, have had to learn this as I go.
What’s Going On In There
Your brain holds your ideas, and has a multitude of things it has to tend to. It controls every type of system in you, processes your thoughts, taps into auto pilot when you are both conscious and unconscious, and most importantly- keeps you alive! As we all know, our brains hold onto an excessive amount of information. When a portion of that information is not being ‘released’, it is more than likely being stored in some aspect. ‘Release’, in my terms, can range from writing down notes, to simply just verbalizing a thought. The more we take in, the more we are bound to ‘clog’. Yes, like a pipe. Though not all information received is absorbed, there are the loose waves of information lingering subconsciously.

If you get extremely scatterbrained at times, or have fifty hundred tasks and ideas racing through your brain a day like I do, you wholeheartedly understand some aspects of this struggle. The zoning out, clouded thoughts, feelings of being lost and confused, episodes of distraction, daydreaming, and insufficient amounts of concentration, are all connected. Many are linked to other proponents, but a great amount are related to an influx of thoughts and ideas rolling around at once. Organizing these thoughts are so important, being they help garner many of our aspirations and goals. Clarity reigns, and you need more of it in your life.
Without some type of notation, you are bound to lose a great idea you could have utilized at some point. It might come back to you, but that is a ‘risk’ you will have to decide on. Putting things down in ink, has always played a role in helping set ideas into stone. Having most of what you do in writing, only makes sense. We do live in a world of technology, where utilizing those resources are also ideal, regardless of the views it carries.
Navigating Through The Waves
Putting together a time where you can review all of what you’ve come up with, can in turn increase your overall productivity. Basking in your ideas is also a great way to get in touch with them. You can arrange to focus on one thing at a time, leaving room for your mind to navigate more freely. Sometimes even a reminder to review old notes, can do wonders. I have pages on pages of notes built up over time, some of which still haven’t been touched. Going through them, I’d find relevant notations that would’ve been extremely helpful in my present ventures, had I just reviewed them real quick.

I’ve come to notice that I feel more accomplished and ready for the world, when my ideas have been handled. For one, notes are everything. For two, there has to be some type of point where you can release and move forward, with fresh brain space for other ideas. It’s so easy to come up with things, then store and forget about them. Generating new ideas out of an original idea is very common, and can end up in a never ending loop. Jotting down whatever comes to mind, is a beneficial practice for self (and standard) preservation. This allows your brain to go on about it’s day, and your ideas to have a ‘resting’ place.
Working on clearing and exercising our minds, is in turn beneficial and something we as humans must engage in more. Knowing when to give our brains a break, creates fluidity in pursuing endless possibilities. Dividing equal amounts of time into embracing creative thoughts and processes, will forever be necessary. It can be agreed upon, that increasing productivity and generating a healthy flow of ideas, is always better with a clear and well-balanced canvas.
